Were leaving on a jet plane...

Yep, so we are in a huge mess, suitcases all over and clothes piled up as we are packing our bags for our last few days in the UK. It has been a long haul – 8 weeks of travel and meetings. It all went well and we are so grateful to all who fed us, housed us and encouraged us on the way.

For our last weekend we are in London where we will catch up with some friends, and speak at a meeting at Selhurst Evangelical Church.

We are planning to spend our last day (Monday 29/5) at the Natural History Museum in London. It is fabulous home schooling your kids – you can justify almost any excursion as long as it’s mildly creative or academic. No guilt involved in Mondays jaunt though – a plethora of good things to see and do for all…we are excited that we have the opportunity to go and soak up some culture. I’m guessing there are probably not too many museums in PNG!

Then on Tuesday morning we head off to Gatwick for our flight to Atlanta, where we will be met by Geoff (my brother), Sherry and Isaac Maddock. We can’t wait!

We have two weeks with Geoff and Sherry at their home in Lexington (Kentucky), and we will also get to see my younger brother Brad – who is studying near by. Hooray for family reunions!

Right, better get back to the packing.

Narelle.

Prayer for Visa

I had a email from a good friend who is working with her hubby and kids with MAF in PNG. She is advising us as we put together our lists of supplies to take with us, helping us to plan a bit better for our time with MAF in PNG. In yesterdays emails she wrote - 'Get people to pray for your visa application to go through smoothly and quickly, this can be one of the biggest hold-ups in maf staff getting to PNG.' So all you family and friends - PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR VISAS!
Thanks so much!

And more pics

On the road again

Some pictures of our time in Scotland. My favorite place in the whole world (says Narelle). We head south tomorrow back to Kent - stopping in Dundee, Edinburgh and Birmingham for meetings.

First Post!

Wilson Prayer Notes
Saturday 13th of May, 2006

Dear Friends and Family,
We are here in Banff (on the north coast of Scotland) this weekend visiting one of our supporting church groups and friends in the region. Sandy is out this morning speaking at a men’s prayer breakfast, and then again tomorrow at the Sunday morning service. We are in week 6 of our 8 week home assignment in the UK, and clocked up 4800 kms, visiting over 33 churches and individual supporters and their families so far.

We thank God for safety as we have travelled on the roads and for great times we have had catching up with our support team here in the UK – we are so grateful for each and every one. We want to say a special thanks to God for those people who have so generously opened their homes to us while we have been travelling. It is not easy living in other people’s homes, but God has blessed us with such loving and gracious hosts while we have been in the UK and made our time so much easier – a huge answer to prayer.

Our weekends have been full of travel and meetings, and our week days have been spent home schooling Rachel and Megan. The girls have done really well despite the constant moving, and we have had many opportunities to ‘spoil’ them with trips to parks, the seaside and even a day at Legoland. Lots of fun! Please continue to pray for the girls, that they will keep well and stay relaxed and happy for these last few weeks of travel.

What’s next?
We were accepted by the MAF Australia candidates committee in April and we have been running around sorting out contracts and paperwork for visa applications for our move to Papua New Guinea. We have had a day at an international health clinic for our medical check ups, blood works, chest x-rays and booster vaccinations, and came home feeling a bit sore and sorry for ourselves J - but its all just a part of the process, and we are glad that its all done now.
MAF Australia are submitting our applications for our PNG Visas this week, please pray that they would be processed quickly and easily, so that there would be able to get to PNG as quickly as possible.

We have one more week in Scotland, and then we head back down south to London, where we have a few more meetings before we fly to America on the 30th of May.

In America we will spend two weeks with Narelle’s brother Geoff and his wife Sherry, and we will also get to see Narelle’s younger brother Brad who is currently studying in Kentucky. It has been 6 years since we were all together, and we are so looking forward to being with our family – especially to get to spend time and get to know our little nephew Isaac who is almost 3 years old. Rachel and Megan can’t wait to be with their little cousin!
We are so grateful and thankful to God for this opportunity to see our precious family.

We will fly to Australia on the16th of June where we will be staying with Narelle’s parents (Kathy and Kevin) in Melbourne. We have about three week-ends worth of travel and church meetings, and then we will stay still and concentrate on packing and preparation for moving to PNG, which hopefully will take place around the end of August.

We just heard this week that our shipment of household goods from South Africa will be arriving in Melbourne at the end of May. All of our goods have to be unpacked out of the wooden crates they were transported in from South Africa and re-packed into 44 gallon plastic drums to go on to PNG. This is because we might be living in an isolated base while in PNG so everything needs to be able to be transported via small aircraft. Praise God with us that our goods have arrived in excellent time, so that we can start organising our shipment to PNG as soon as we get to Australia. Please pray that we would make the most of the time we have in Australia as we visit with supporters and family there, and that God would give us wisdom, discernment and lots of peace as we prepare for our new life in PNG.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement. We are grateful for your support in our lives and work.
Much love and thanks,
Narelle, Sandy, Rachel and Megan Wilson.
